Teresa "Terri" Porter Lively, age 66, of E. Flat Rock, NC, peacefully went to her eternal home Monday, February 17, 2025, after suffering with diabetes and related illness for several years.
Born December 20, 1958, in Tryon, NC, Terri resided in Henderson County for most of her adult life after attending school in Tryon and Landrum. She is survived by her son, Jon Porter, of their E. Flat Rock, NC home, her mother, Lois Helen McGraw Porter of E. Flat Rock, her sister, Kathy Porter, her brother, Gary Porter and sister-in-law, Susie Porter of Hendersonville, her brother, Phil Vick of Asheville, NC and many nieces and nephews. Terri was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Lively, Sr., and son, Mark Lively, Jr., her father, J.B. Porter, her sister, Debbie Porter Anders and brother-in-law, Clifton Anders.
"Little Mark" was her sweet and rambunctious younger son who became her angel after losing his life to an accident at age 8 years old. She kept his memory alive everyday of her life, as she longed to hold him again. Jon, her oldest, was her rock, best friend and, in the last years of her life, her constant loving caregiver. She loved that for the last years of her life, she was able to live two doors away from 'Mom", Lois, who she loved with all her heart.
In common with her favorite Aunt, Alma "Bood" Gosnell, Terri was babysitter and second mom to countless children of both relatives and friends. Her love for kids was her life, as was evidenced by the presence of many nieces and nephews and others who came to say their goodbyes to who they knew as "Maw maw". She loved them all as if they were her own.
Terri's wit and sense of humor blessed her with many friends, and she seemed to know someone almost anywhere she went. Her family and friends loved her delicious southern style dishes that she lovingly shared on holidays and anytime they were privileged to eat at her house. Her never-failing memory was relied upon by anyone who needed help to recall a phone number, a birthdate, how much their baby weighed at birth, or any other trivial or important bit of information.
Her beautiful soul will live on in the memories of those she leaves behind and she will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be 3 pm on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at East Hendersonville Baptist Church, located at 1010 Shepherd Street in Hendersonville, NC 28792.
