Mrs. Phyllis Elaine Corn Russell, 82, went home to be with the Lord on June 26, 2026.
She was born on July 30, 1943.
Phyllis was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose family was truly her entire world. She dedicated her life to loving and caring for those around her, and her greatest joy came from spending time with her family and watching them grow through the generations. Known for her wonderful cooking, her generous heart, and for lovingly spoiling her great-grandchildren, Phyllis created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unconditional love. To all who knew and loved her, she was affectionately known as the “Queen of Highwoods,” a title she carried with grace, strength, and a touch of humor.
She is survived by her beloved sons, Keith Russell (Tami) and Rodney Russell (Leslie). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Kelsey Foster (Jess), Kailey Hitt (Jay), Ty Russell (Camryn), and Cory Russell (Claire).
Phyllis was blessed with her precious great-grandchildren who brought immeasurable joy to her life: Slayde, Addie, Audrey, Cedar, Cypress, and Brantley. She treasured every moment spent with them and took great pride in loving and spoiling each one.
She is also survived by her loving siblings, Bill (Mei Fong) Corn, Bobby (Jeanette) Corn, Donna Sue (Ronnie) Emory, Tony (Peggy) Corn, and Pam (Marcel) Rijnders, as well as an abundance of cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her brother, Donald (Iris) Corn.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, faith, family, and devotion will live on through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at New Freedom Baptist Church, 2800 Chesnee Road, Columbus, North Carolina 28722, with funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” — Revelation 21:4 (KJV)
We will see you soon, Granny!
