Norma Lavetta Bowie age 82 of Flat Rock, NC. passed away July 27, 2021.
Norma was born in Bingham, Illinois, the eighth of nine children born to Homer Arthur and Freeda Meyer Thompson. She is survived by brothers Marion Thomas (Regie) Thompson, Irvin Meyer (Judy) Thompson and a sister, Donna Ray (James) Dell. She was predeceased by brothers Arthur Dorwin Thompson, Ogden Neil Thompson, Ronald Eugene Thompson and sisters Wilma Beryl Brunner and Joyce Elain Cox. Norma is also survived by children William Charles (Donna) Perrin, Tammy Lynn (Joey) Kitchen, Mark Steven (Tammy) Perrin, Jeff Perrin and Julie Ann Acord, also by her stepchildren, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She lost a son, Homer Matthew Perrin at birth. Norma lived in Illinois for the first half of her life then moved to South Carolina and finally to North Carolina. She was a talented needlework artist and fun-loving person. She and her sisters shared the gifts of needlework—by sharing and teaching with family and friends. Her doll creations are detailed treasures. Norma was also a great lover of music and number one fan when one of her children or grandchildren played in various bands. Norma had a gift for finding the beauty in the tiniest things—a small flower or four-leaf clover. She loved the water—from the river to the ocean. But above all, her love for her children—born to her and chosen as hers ran deepest.
She requested no funeral service. Her children will honor her with a celebration of her life at a later
Sanders Funeral Home.
