Michael Hugh Lovelace

Michael Hugh Lovelace passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024, at the Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum, SC. 

He was born on June 7, 1950, in Charlotte, NC, the son of Hoyle Ross and Levada Huffstickler Lovelace.

Mike was educated in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system, graduating from Harding High School in 1968.  He continued his education at North Carolina State University graduating in1972 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering eventually owning his own business, Buensod Sales Associates retiring in 2022.

He lived in Charlotte, NC and Columbia, MO before relocating permanently in Polk County, NC where he married Patricia Newsom (Patti) in 1998.  Mike enjoyed the farm life and being outdoors but most of all he enjoyed his stepdaughter, Lindsey and grandson, Casey.

He was predeceased by his parents and nephew Patrick Scott Moore. Surviving are his wife Patti Lovelace, stepdaughter, Lindsey Newsom Weicker, her husband James  Cole Weicker, and grandson Casey James Weicker, sister Patricia Lovelace Moore, and nephew Marshall Dean Moore, III.

The family will have a visitation from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday, September 8th at Sanders Funeral Home, 80 Park Street, Columbus, NC, 28722.

In lieu of flowers,  donations may be made to Red Bell Run Equine Sanctuary or Foothills Humane Society.
