Mary Anne Sledge

Mary Anne Sledge, 86, of Columbus, NC, died on February 5, 2026. She was born in 1939 to Mary Thacker Sledge and Hartwell Kendrick Sledge, Jr. and raised in the Steele Creek community of Charlotte, NC. She graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1957. She retired from Locke and Associates in 2001 and relocated to Hendersonville, NC where she enjoyed hiking with her dogs and volunteering. She made her home at Tryon Estates in Columbus, NC for the past 16 years where she loved gardening and shared her produce with many neighbors. Mary Anne loved to crochet blankets for all her nieces and nephews and continued that tradition with her 40 grand and great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Ken and George Sledge, sister Billie Erwin, and nephew Ron Sledge. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, James Sledge (Shawn), Laurie Gawriluk (Steve), Brad Erwin (Tammy), Alan Sledge (LuAnne), Mark Erwin (Melanie), Andrea Kepley (Joel), Larry Sledge (Debbie), Jennifer Mowrey (David), Melissa MacKinnon (Alex), and many grand and great nieces and nephews.
