Leslie Eugene Murray

Leslie Eugene Murray passed away in Spartanburg, SC on November 2, 2023. He resided in Evans Mills, NY and Columbus, NC with his wife of twenty-four years, Marion Lawrence Murray. Leslie was born August 15, 1934 in Montour Falls, NY, to parents Bruce Murray and Elizabeth Hatfield Murray. 

Leslie is survived by four children, Toni Murray of Glencoe Mill Village, NC; Doug Murray and companion Maria Gonzalez of Warrenton, VA; Matthew (Julie) Murray of Prospect, KY; and Jennifer (Jim) Cughan of Bloomsburg, PA;  five stepchildren, Denise (Curt) Smith of Poinciana, FL; Renee (Tom) Johnson of Marcellus, NY; Norine (Lance) Stetson of Phenix, VA; Richard Lawrence of Sandy Creek, NY; and Robert (Angie) Lawrence of Adams, NY, as well as sisters Helen Muldermans and Lucretia Drangstveit, sisters-in-law Bea and Jean Murray, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife Marion, Leslie is predeceased by siblings Howard Murray and wife Amelia, Harold Murray and wife Doralee, Carrie Cozine and husband John, William Murray, Bruce Murray and brothers-in-law Pete Muldermans and Earl Drangstveit, nephews Arthur Murray and Larry Cozine, as well as former wife, Mary Sagar Murray. 

Leslie lived out his faith through his relationships and service to his friends and community. He was an army veteran, serving in the Korean War. Leslie will be buried in Grove Cemetery in Trumansburg, NY with full military honors. 

In lieu of calling hours, please honor your friendship with Leslie by inviting a neighbor for coffee, writing a letter to an acquaintance, speaking to the stranger on the street, and whispering a prayer of thanksgiving for those you've loved and lost.
