Kathryn Frances (Gregory) Thomas

In loving memory of Kathryn (Kay) Frances Gregory Thomas, 88, who passed away on June 27, 2024 at The Elizabeth House. 

A resident of Tryon Estates in Columbus, NC, Kay is survived by her husband of over 65 years, Robert (Bob) A. Thomas; four children Robert G. (Bonnye Hur) Thomas, Catherine A. Thomas, Susan J. Marazza and James W. (Anne) Thomas; four grandchildren Clayton (Jacob Dwyer) Thomas, Natalie (Keith) Thomas, Will Thomas and Kate Thomas; and great granddaughter Sloane Sutyak. 

Kay was a registered nurse, graduating from The University of Rhode Island in 1958, where she also met Bob. They married in 1959 and raised their four children in Pittsburgh, PA, remaining there until they retired to Etowah, NC in 1995 where they lived until moving to Tryon Estates in 2013.

Kay was a beloved and active resident of Tryon Estates for over 11 years, leading and participating in various groups and activities including quilting, sewing, bridge, hiking, local food pantry and chapel linens volunteer and columbarium committee.  Kay was always there to lend a helping hand to a fellow resident and will be missed by all.

A Memorial Service to Celebrate Kathryn's Life will be 10:30 am Saturday, August 3, 2024 at the Tryon Estates Chapel.
