Joe was introduced to this world the son of Hamon L. Poole and Erma Anderson Poole residents of Hendersonville, North Carolina. Also, he was recognized in Who's Who Among Students at American Universities and Colleges.

After graduation in 1960, his career began with General Electric Credit Corporation working in Charleston, South Carolina. Their union produced two sons, Steve and Scott.

Other transfers include Charlotte, North Carolina, Knoxville, Tenn., Atlanta, Ga. on to Asheville, North Carolina as District Manager for Western North Carolina.

He was determined to remain in North Carolina and not leave the Blue Ridge Mountains, therfore, after 15 years he resigned from General Electric Credit Corporation.
