Howard Randall Edwards, 76, died November 28, 2023 at his home.
One of eight children born to Rilla Page and Marshall Henry Edwards, Howard grew up in Mill Spring and graduated from Polk Central High School in 1965.
Howard was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in Vietnam 1968-1969. While in Vietnam he was awarded the Bronze Star for Valor. He worked for many years as an electrician, and retired from Michelin Tire Corporation in 2006. He was a member of Lebanon Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sarah Womack Edwards, one daughter, Stacey Stafford (Dane) of Tryon, one son, Matt Edwards of Mebane, NC, two grandsons, Matthew Edwards of Brevard NC, and Ian Stafford of Tryon. He also leaves a beloved younger sister Debra Edwards, brothers Jimmy Edwards and Harold Edwards all of Mill Spring, and a sister, Gail Halford of Columbus as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
As per his wishes, a family directed memorial service with military honors will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Lebanon Methodist Church, Big Level Road, Mill Spring, NC. The family will receive friends, and invite all to fellowship at a reception in the church hall immediately following the service. All are welcome to join the family in celebration of his life.
