Guy Walter Greaves

Guy Walter Greaves passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on November 14, 2020, with his wife by his side.

Beloved husband of Lorraine W. (Rainey) Greaves for 39 wonderful years, father of Robert Greaves, Gary Greaves (Angel), Genell Greaves Williams (Keith) and Gwen Greaves Hall (Tom). He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren on the way. Guy was aged 85 years, 1 day, born and raised in the Irish Channel of New Orleans, Louisiana, and a resident of Mill Spring, North Carolina. Guy graduated from Warren Easton High School and attended Tulane University in New Orleans.

He served in the Louisiana Air National Guard and spent his career in the commercial tile industry, where, at the time of his retirement, he owned Greaves Tile Company, Inc. Guy touched many lives during his decades of coaching playground sports. He also served in Kenner, Louisiana town government in several different positions. After he arrived in Polk County, North Carolina, 20 years ago, he became a member of Silver Creek Baptist Church and he enjoyed serving as a volunteer firefighter and board member at Mill Spring Volunteer Fire Department, where, again, he touched many lives. He also served as Chairman of the Security Committee at the Lake Adger Property Owners Association for several years. As his son, Gary, always says, Guy has the “It” factor.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, November 19, 2020, 1:00 PM, at Silver Creek Baptist Church in Mill Spring, North Carolina, with Dr. Chris Osborn and Dr. Rob Hefner officiating. Please observe social distancing and masking.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Silver Creek Baptist Church or Hospice of the Carolina Foothills.
