George Milo Hillyer, age 74, passed away February 4th, 2024, on the porch of his home in rural Columbus, North Carolina.
George was born June 22nd, 1949 in Warren, Ohio. George is the son of Ermine and Etta May Hillyer. George’s siblings include Mary, Erdene, Irene, Elsie, Nancy, Margaret, Patricia, Josephine, Doris, Lester, Charles, and James. George’s children include Nick, Jon, Shilo, Levi, Jesse, and Sara.
George was well known for his big heart, contagious laugh, and always lending a helping hand to those in need. George was a very talented horse trainer, saddle maker, mechanic, carpenter, professional fisherman, ranch hand, and carpenter.
George enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1970 at the age of 21. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and received medals during his service for good conduct, national defense, pistol sharpshooting, and rifle sharpshooting. George retired from service as a Corporal in 1976.
George trusted in Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior. He is now with his fellow believers rejoicing and worshipping his Heavenly Father.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday February 13th at 2:00p.m. at Bear Creek Bible Church in Campobello, South Carolina.
All are welcome to join. The memorial service will include an open mic time for people to share stories and memories of George.
