Gary Yoder Obituary

With deep love and sadness, we announce the passing of Gary Lee Yoder, who peacefully went to be with His Lord and Savior on March 8, 2025, at the age of 75. Born on January 19, 1950, in Lockport, New York, Gary spent a good part of his life in Columbus, North Carolina, where he became a cherished member of the community.

Gary was an artist at heart, with a creative spirit that shaped much of his early life. His passion for beauty was matched by his deep, abiding faith as a devoted Christian. Gary worked for many years with Polk County Schools, earning the respect and admiration of administration, students, and families for his dedication and hard work. He was a man of integrity and strength, and his caring nature will forever be remembered by all who knew him.

One of Gary's greatest joys was working in his yard, where he lovingly nurtured his beautiful palm trees. His connection to nature brought him peace, and the sight of his meticulously cared-for garden will always be a testament to his love of life and attention to detail.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Milford and Susie Yoder, and his infant brother, Steven Yoder. He is survived by his loving siblings: Bonnie Troyer (Phil), Michele Baker (Bill), and Rob Yoder (Anna Lisa). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, all of whom were dear to him. Gary’s memory will live on through the love he shared with his family and friends.

The family will hold a Memorial at a later date to celebrate Gary's life and honor his legacy.

For those who wish to express their condolences, letters may be sent to 352 Hemlock Springs Trail Weaverville, NC 28787, which will be shared with the family at the Memorial Service.
