E. Jeanette Conner “Granny”, 89 of Columbus, N.C. died Saturday, Feb. 28, 2026, in her home surrounded by family.
A native of Polk County, she was the daughter of the late McClure Whitaker Dimsdale and Beatrice W. Dedman. She was also preceded in death by her Husband Roland “Bud” Conner, 2 sons (Larry & Glenn), 1 daughter (Glenna), 2 sisters (Juanita & Dorothy) and 3 brothers (Mac, Gene & Weldon).
Surviving are two sons, Charles Conner (Angela) and Jeff Conner , both of Polk County; 1 sister Faye Ravan of Monks Corner, S.C.; 7 grandchildren (Barrie, Chad, Patrick, Glenna, Amy, Jamie and Jill); 15 great grandchildren (Roland “Buddy”, Daxton, Zoey, Hunter, Emma, Summer, Flint, Auston, Autumn, Logan, Natilee, Makayla, Jason, Hayden, Bryson).
Granny was a mom first, the heart of our family, our first teacher, our protector and our constant source of comfort. Her love was steady and unconditional, shaping our lives in ways both big and small.
As a Granny, she became pure magic. She was a Granny to all who encountered her. Her home became a haven of laughter, treats, macaroni & tomato soup, apple juice, diet Pepsi and storytelling. She had a special way of making each of us feel cherished as we spent time at Granny’s house throughout the years. Whether it was canning tomatoes, attending events, cross stitching, telling us what to do in the kitchen and of course making us behave.
Her legacy lives on in the lives she shaped and the traditions she created. Though our heart aches in her absence, we find comfort knowing that her love surrounds us still. A mother’s love is eternal. A granny’s love is unforgettable. She was both and she was everything.
Services will be announced at a later date.
