Bettye Blackwood Trousdale Erikson, 87, of Augusta, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 6, 2021.
She was born on October 1, 1933 to the late Joseph Ronald Blackwood and Elizabeth Kinney Blackwood in Nashville, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her husband of 35 Years, Walter Erikson, and her sisters, Joanne Flintoff and Linda Oman.
Bettye attended Hillsboro High School and University of Tennessee, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. She had a very successful career in real estate with Real Estate Investments for 10 years in Nashville. She was involved in many charities over the duration of her life.
She is survived by children Margaret Woodard of Augusta, Perkins Trousdale (Laura) of Jasper, Georgia and GM Trousdale, III (Katherine) of Bryson City, NC; step children Cathy Nunley (Terry) , Mark Erikson, Steve Erikson (Nivia) and Beth Swing (Jeff); grandchildren Nicholas Trousdale (Patricia) and Lauren Trousdale; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the Augusta History Museum, 560 Reynolds Street, Augusta, GA 30901. Visitation will begin at 1 pm with a service at 2pm and a reception following the service. The Very Rev. G.M. Trousdale will officiate the service. A private family burial will be held in Black Mountain, NC.
The family would like to thank all the caring people at NHC in North Augusta, where Bettye was a resident for the last 5 years.
