David Ray Sayre, age 74 of Spartanburg, SC and Etowah, NC died September 26th, 2020. Dave died at home in Etowah following a short illness with Pancreatic Cancer.
He was born September 17th, 1946 in Fremont, Ohio to Patricia (Dye) and Robert Ray Sayre. He lived in Fremont Ohio for 60 years before moving to Spartanburg SC with wife Shirley (Hotz) Sayre. Shirley was killed in an automobile accident in 2012. Dave married Paula Sink on December 26th, 2015 in Hendersonville, NC.
Dave worked for Uniroyal in Warsaw IN and Port Clinton OH for 30 years. He also worked for the News Herald in Port Clinton. In mid life, Dave became a Weight Watchers group leader and worked for them for 15 years in OH, MI, and SC. He loved helping people achieve their weight loss goals. Diane Rose, his boss, shared that Dave received every award possible through Weight Watchers. These included Leader of the Year, Sales Achievement, Group Attendance and (7) years of Outstanding Performance awards. She said that Dave was a good friend and an exceptional employee.
Dave was a member of Grace Community Church in Fremont, Ohio, Morningside Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC and the Hendersonville Church of Christ in Hendersonville, NC.
He loved to sing and had a beautiful Bass voice. He was active in church performances and church choirs. He sang in the Upstate Barbershop for (6) years and in Upstate Mens Choir the past two years in Spartanburg, SC.
Dave is survived by the Angel he met late in life, Paula Sink Sayre, Daughters with Rachel Tressler Kishman, Sheryl (Matt) Simko, Wickliffe Ohio, Tamara (Dewayne) Whitt of Hillsboro, OH. Step-Children; Tony (Jennifer) Hotz, Fremont Ohio, Pam (Zak) Taylor, Cincinnati OH, Sam (MaryHelen) Hotz, Leonardtown, MD, William Sink Jr, Eric Sink both of Cullowhee, NC, Ian (Jennifer) Sink, Cadiz, KY, Kristin (Chris) Jones, Clyde NC.
Grandchildren; Davey and Kendra Kishman, Henry, Jonathan, Zane, Grace, Holly, Zebulon, Sarah, and Anna Sink, Ashlynn, Hayden and Emily Jones, Brittany, Haley, and Trent Taylor, TJ, Chris, Samantha and Grady Hotz. A dear Aunt Rosemary Silfvan of Lebanon, Ohio, several cousins and his beloved dog Princess Anne.
He was preceded in death by Mother, Patricia, Father, Robert and wife, Shirley.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 17th, 2020, 2:00 PM at the Hendersonville Church of Christ, 1975 Haywood Rd in Hendersonville, NC.
The Service will be live streamed for those that can't attend in person. Service can be viewed at 2:00 PM or after at hvlcoc.org
