David Edward Childers

David Edward Childers, age 84, of Hendersonville, NC, passed away peacefully at The Elizabeth House, on August 13, 2025, with his daughter by his side.

He was born on September 29, 1940, in Bryson City, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents Russell Daniel Childers, Sr. and Carrie Emma Plemmons of Whittier, NC, his brother Russell Daniel Childers, Jr. of Bryson City, and his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Imogene Fortune Childers of Hendersonville.

He is survived by his daughter, Gigi Childers Daniels of Rutherfordton, and his sister Carolyn Childers Peterson (Scott) of Brevard.

"Dave" was a native of Swain County, but following his service in the Army in Fort Hood, Texas, he relocated to Henderson County, NC, where he lived out the remainder of his life.  He spent many years working as Superintendent and Supervisor at Olin in Brevard.  He was a dedicated member of the Etowah Lions Club where he helped to touch so many lives.

He played an integral role in his daughter's life when she was young, as a softball coach in the Henderson County Recreation league for many years and was always one of her biggest supporters in sports and in life! He enjoyed chair caning with his wife Imogene, painting, drawing, and was an avid collector! He loved playing Bingo!  He had a wonderful sense of humor, was very witty, and had a true zest for life, but he was truly always happiest spending time with all of his family members! He was one of a kind, and will be so very missed by all of those whose lives he touched. Dave is rejoicing as he is with his sweet Imogene again...
