Daniel Schutter Obituary

Daniel William Schutter age 83 of Columbus, NC passed away January 31, 2023.

Dan was born in Hazelton, Pa. on Nov. 22nd, 1939.  He graduated from MMI Preparatory School, a high school serving the sons of coal miners.  He received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Lafayette College and his MS in Chemistry from Franklin and Marshall University.  Dan went on to work for Armstrong Cork, where he was credited with creating a patent for resilient ceiling tiles.  He then switched gears and went to Congoleum, a flooring company in Trenton, NJ.  At Congoleum he ran the Research and Development Lab, with the goal of finding replacements for asbestos.  Outside of work Dan was always finding ways to give back to the community.  He volunteered for years with the JCs and was a dedicated member to their church.

Dan was the loving husband to Linda., the father of Cindy Martin (Russell, Jr.) and Bruce. (Lee) and devoted grandfather to Georgia and Ella Martin.  Dan and Linda spent their lives doing what they loved, travelling, gardening, ballroom dancing and attending a multitude of family get-togethers.  Dan had a wry sense of humor and never passed a dog without giving it a pet.  He will be missed dearly by everyone.
