Mr. Charles William Link, age 95 of Columbus, NC passed away July 30/2024 at the Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum, SC.

Charles was born on January 25,1929 in Saugerties, NY to the late Charles M. Link and the late Bertha Sorge Link. He was a graduate of Catskill High School class of 1946.  He then went to Hope College and received a degree in the Bachelors of Arts in 1950.  Charles was immediately drafted in 1950 and assigned to the 322nd Battalion Signal Corps, and discharged in 1952.  On September 12, 1953 he married Dorothy Jean Rivenburgh.

Charles was a member of the United Methodist Church.  He served in many civic organizations as president or chairman such as the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Pastoral Parish Organization, Catskill Sesqui-Centennial Celebration, Greene County Association of Retarded Citizens, Catskill Jaycees, and the Young Republicans Club.

In his profession, he was a member of the Board of Directors for the Professional Insurance Agents Association, was in the Certified Insurance Counselor program, and taught commercial auto and general liability courses throughout New York.

On the lighter side, Charles was known to do pranks to his children and their friends. He sent them to the local store to purchase a bag stretcher coming back empty handed.  He sent many kids on snipe hunts, which involved sitting in a field in the evening clapping rocks together to call in the snipe (little birds).  Same results.

Memorial Services will be held 2 PM on Thursday, August 22nd, 2024 in the Chapel of ACTS Tryon Estates. Friends and family are invited to attend.
