Charles C. Howard, 91, died December 24, 2022, after a brief illness.
Born at home in North Pacolet, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Horace Milton Howard and Mollie Jackson. He was the widower of Louise Anders Howard. They celebrated 64 years of marriage. In addition to his parents and his wife he is proceeded in death by his daughters, Janice Marie Howard Miller, and a baby girl, who died at birth. He was also predeceased by his brothers William Howard, Hulon Howard and Horace (Buster) Howard and his sisters Hazel Holcomb and Kathleen Howard and a special nephew Harold Howard.
Charlie retired from Bommer Industries after 44 years of loyal service. He was an avid NASCAR fan, very famous for his woodworking skills for which he is known by the nickname “The Bee Trap man” and for his turkey calls. He enjoyed taking drives looking for deer. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Left to cherish his memories and his wit are his son Charles (Chuck) and daughter-in-law, Dawne, of Landrum, his loving companion, Carolyn Lawrence, his beloved granddaughter, Jennifer Pittman and her husband Phillip of Gaffney, SC, his great-grandchildren, Jessica Black and her husband, Jeff of Shelby, NC, Katherine Pittman and her fiancé, Jeremy Hall and the joy of his life, a great-great grandson, Jacoby James Hall, of Gaffney, SC.
He is survived by many nieces and nephews and a very special nephew, Nelson Barton.
Visitation will be from 12 noon to 1:20 PM Saturday December 31, 2022, at Jacksons Grove United Methodist Church, 2842 N. Pacolet Road, Landrum SC followed by services starting at 1:30 PM at the church.
Burial will follow at North Pacolet Baptist Church Cemetery, 1175 Melvin Hill Road, Campobello, SC 29322.
His services will be conducted by Rev. Tim Drum and Rev. Mike Bowers.
Pallbearers will be John Howard, Noah Howard, Nelson Barton, Joe Brown, Rusty Warren and Bran Richards and with honorary pallbearers, Jessie Morris, Paul Ayers, Phillip Pittman, Jeff Black, Jeremy Hall, Doug Bright, Peter Frolich and Grady Sudduth, and Charlie Campbell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jacksons Grove United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 339, Landrum, SC 29356 (Blessing Box or Backpacks for Children) or to charity of one’s choice.
