Carroll Edney Obituary

Carroll “Boonie” Edney, 89, of Tryon, NC, went Home to be with the Lord on June 3, 2026.

Boonie was born on June 6, 1936 in Pacolet Valley. He was the son of the late James Edney and Helen Morton Edney. He was the faithful husband of Teresa Shytle Edney for nearly 60 years.

Boonie was the owner of Edney Logging. He began his logging career with his father at age 15.

He worked his entire life as a skilled logger cutting timber and delivering logs on his 18-wheeler. Using the timber from his sawmill, he built a home for his bride, Teresa.

With his love for the outdoors, Boonie was also a peach farmer and raised cattle.

He will be remembered for his love for the Lord, devotion to his family, work ethic, generosity, and integrity. He was a committed member of Mud Creek Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC.

Boonie is survived by his wife, Teresa Edney; his daughter Angela Queen (Greg); his son Joshua Edney (Jessica); his brother Douglas Edney; his sisters Shirley Harris (Arthur) and Bonnie Pendleton, and multiple nieces & nephews.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Meredith Queen Collom (Kaleb), Hope Queen, Calvin Edney, and Damian Edney.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his six siblings and granddaughter Mariah Bethany Queen.

The family invites all who knew and loved him to celebrate Boonie’s life at Mud Creek Baptist Church in Hendersonville, NC on Friday July 10, 2026.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. The Celebration of Life service will begin at 4:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Boonie’s life by supporting Hospice of the Carolina Foothills, International Mission Board, and Mud Creek Baptist Church.
