Bruce LeRoy Ball

Bruce LeRoy Ball age 86 of Zirconia, NC passed away March 7, 2025 at White Oak in Tryon.

Born on August 12, 1938, in Washington, D.C., Bruce was an adored son, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and uncle.

Bruce was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence Ball and Marguerite (Moore) Ball; his brothers, William Ball and Ralph Ball, and his sister, Marion (Ball) Gilbertson.

He is survived by his loving children, Lawrence (Elizabeth Ann), Diane (Martin) Silverman, Karen (Rick) Jordan, and Kathryn Ball. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Bruce graduated from High Point High School in Beltsville, Maryland, before continuing his education at the University of Maryland and the University of North Carolina at Asheville. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, completing his service in Korea. Following his military service, Bruce was a career employee at Bell South.

Among his many gifts, his extraordinary ability to inspire others to embrace new experiences and adventures remains an enduring part of his legacy. Whether traversing the Tuckasegee Gorge, fishing for halibut or panning for gold in Alaska, parasailing in Maui, hiking and camping in Western North Carolina, Bruce was always up for an adventure with his family.

A gifted storyteller, stories of his beloved days at Camp Mondamin or stories he would make up to entertain his children, are another legacy of his creative spirit and sense of humor.

An accomplished weaver, Bruce won awards for his intricate and beautiful creations, and designed the Ball Family Tartan, which is officially registered in Scotland.

Bruce leaves behind a lasting legacy of adventure, creativity, humor, and love, forever etched in the hearts of his family and friends.
