November 2, 1925 ~ December 3, 2019 (age 94) 94 Years Old

Helen Swayngim Obituary

 

 Helen Lavern Anderson Swayngim, 94, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 3, 2019.

She was the daughter of the late Elijah Frank Anderson and Grace Florence Wilson . In addition, to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, James Paul Swayngim; and 6 brothers and sisters; Charles Anderson, Dwight Anderson, Malcom Anderson, Maxine Miller, Reva Foster, and Bessie Keller. Helen was born in Hiawatha, Kansas and grew up on a dairy farm in Camdenton, Missouri. She Married James Paul Swayngim in 1944, during WWII, and moved to Cullowee, North Carolina in 1945. Helen was active in helping to  establish the Sylva, Church of Christ,  She worked at the Financial Aids Office and retired from Western Carolina University.  Upon retirement Helen stayed actively involved in the lives of her daughter, four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren who loved and adored her very much.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Paula Lavern Sink Sayre and husband, Dave, of Etowah, NC ; Grandsons: William Sink, Jr., and James Eric Sink, of Cullowhee, NC and Ian Sink and wife Jennifer of Cadiz,KY;  Granddaughter Kristin Sink Jones and husband Chris; eleven Great-grandchildren, Henry Sink, Jonathon Sink, Zane Sink, Grace Sink, Holly Sink, Zebulon Sink, Ashlyn Jones, Sarah Sink, Zeke Sink, Hayden Jones, Anna Sink, and Emily Jones.

Foster Son,  Tim Plowman and Foster Grandson Ben and wife Sarah Beth.

 A memorial service will be held at 3pm. on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Hendersonville Church of Christ.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hendersonville Church of Christ 1975 Haywood Road, Hendersonville, NC 28791 or Hospice of Henderson County 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.

The care of Mrs.Swayngim has been entrusted to Sanders Funeral and Cremation, Columbus, NC.
