Ernest Harvey Moore

Ernest H “Ernie” Moore passed away suddenly on January 3, 2020. 

Ernie was born on January 10th, 1938 in the Little River Community of Transylvania County to Lawson Harvey and Esther Fisher Moore.  For the past 46 years he had lived and worked in the Sunny View Community of Polk County.

Ernie enjoyed tinkering with anything that had a motor and was a longtime NASCAR enthusiast.  He also enjoyed telling “dad jokes” and spending time with family-both kin and the family he chose for himself.  Mr. Moore is survived by his loving daughter,  Amanda Moore McDowell and her husband Troy, of Landenberg, PA, his sister Katherine Moore Ledbetter of Travelers Rest, SC and his long time love Joyce Pace Pierce of Landrum, SC.  He also leaves behind nieces Karen Couch of Greenville, SC  and Janet Fossell of West Des Moines, Iowa as well as Tony Bradley of Sunny View, NC and Terry Spencer of Inman, SC whom he thought of as family.

Services will be held Friday, January 10th at Lebanon United Methodist Church in the Sunny View Community on what would have been Ernie’s 82nd birthday.  Visitation with be held at 10am in the Fellowship Hall followed immediately by the funeral at 11am.  The burial will be private.
